Electric Youth!

The latter time was the fastest of any sectional in the state, and he ran the No. 2 time in the 2009 All Star New York Mets 5 David Wright Red Jerseys 110 hurdles behind Providence senior Andrew Helmin (14.12).

Helmin and Fremd junior Matt Konopka appear to be Kendziera's main competition in the 300 Dodgers 16 Ethier Blue 2010 All Star Jerseys hurdles.

Like Kendziera, Konopka won both events in sectional competition, claiming gold at Buffalo Grove with the state's third-fastest 300 hurdles (38.88) and the No. 14 time in the 110 (14.74).

Several other local athletes could find themselves on the medal stand this weekend.

Palatine's Cam Kuksa, a North Dakota-bound football player, won the triple jump (45 feet, 4 inches) at the Buffalo Grove Sectional and was second to Konopka in the 110 hurdles in 14.94 seconds.

Buffalo Grove junior Steven Salvano won a sectional title in the 3,200 run in 9 minutes, 19.99 seconds.

Palatine's Graham Brown (4:19.17) and Christian Zambrano (4:19.32) ran the state's Nos. 8 and 9 times in the 1,600, while Fremd's Harry Winter (4:19.97) also qualified.

Prospect's Blue Jays 10 Vernon Wells red 2010 All Star Jerseys Pat Costello won a sectional title in the shot put with a throw of 55-0, No. 11 in the state.

Hersey has two medal hopefuls. Ed Beyer's runner-up discus throw of 168-6 at sectionals was No. 7 in the state.

Andrew Philipose will likely have to trim a few seconds off his 9:23.25 to medal in the 3,200.

Rolling Meadows senior Morgan Keller had the best showing among local athletes at the Dodgers 16 Ethier Blue 2010 All Giants 55 Tim Lincecum Road Cool Base Grey 2010 All Star Jerseys Star Jerseys Class 3A girls' state meet over the weekend.

Keller placed second in the discus (149-7) and third in the shot put (43-6).

Palatine's 3,200 relay team of Liz Cox, Cassidy McPherson, Kara Burton and Tess Wasowicz finished second in 9:12.21.
